John Rauschuber - Director of Bands/Fine Arts - FISD

Mr. Rauschuber (AKA Mr. R.) is a graduate of Winston Churchill High School in San Antonio and was a member of the TMEA All-State Bands and Orchestra.  He attended the University of North Texas where he played in the Wind Symphony, directed by Eugene Migliaro Corporon and the Symphony Orchestra, directed by Anshel Brusilov.  

Before coming to Fredericksburg, Mr. R. taught at George West ISD and Marion ISD.  While in Marion, his bands marched in the Texas State Marching Contest as well as earning the "Sweepstakes Award" from the University Interscholastic League (UIL).  His Marion and George West bands were also selected as State Finalists in the Outstanding Performance Series (OPS) as well as State Finalist in the Texas Music Educator Association (TMEA) Honor Band Contest.

In Fredericksburg, Mr. Rauschuber oversees the entire band program.  He directs the HS Marching Band, HS Wind Ensemble and teaches beginning double reeds and horn.

Mr. Rauschuber is principal horn in the Kerrville Symphony of the Hills and enjoys playing horn and woodwinds in the Fredericksburg Theatre Company summer musicals.

Mr. Rauschuber is a member of the Texas Music Educators Association (TMEA), Texas Bandmasters Association (TBA), Texas Music Adjudicators Association (TMAA), and the Association of Texas Small School Bands (ATSSB).  Mr. Rauschuber is on the ATSSB State Board as the Region Coordinator of Region 11.

James Buxton - Assistant Director of Bands, FHS

Mr. Buxton was born in Kentucky and grew up in Albuquerque, New Mexico where he began playing the trombone in elementary school.  While in high school he was a member of the Albuquerque Youth Symphony and the New Mexico All State Band and Orchestra.  He attended West Texas A & M University where he played in the Symphonic Band under conductor Dr. Gary Garner.  In 1987 Mr. Buxton was a member of the Drum Corps International World Championship finalist Sky Ryders Drum & Bugle Corps from Hutchinson, Kansas.


Mr. Buxton has taught band programs in New Mexico and Texas.  His ensembles have won many awards in UIL, USSBA, BOA, and other regional concert, sight-reading, and marching festivals and contests.  In 2006 Mr. Buxton served as the Visual Caption Head for the Revolution Drum & Bugle Corps from San Antonio, Texas; winning the Silver Medal and Outstanding Visual Performance awards at the DCI Div. III World Championships.


In Fredericksburg, Mr. Buxton directs the HS Symphonic Band and teaches beginning trombone and tuba.

Mr. Buxton lives in San Antonio with his wife Kristin, and their two children.  He is the San Antonio Spurs #1 fan and listens to way too much sports radio going to and coming home from school.  Mr. and Mrs. Buxton enjoy traveling, cooking, dancing, and running in their time off.

Dani Rauschuber - Director of Bands, FMS

Mrs. Rauschuber (AKA Mrs. R) is a graduate of Winston Churchill High School in San Antonio.  She was a member of the TMEA All-Region and All-Area Band/Orchestra throughout High School.  She attended the University of the Incarnate Word and participated in the Band, Orchestra, Jazz Band and Choir.

Before coming to Fredericksburg, Mrs. Rauschuber taught in Fort Worth ISD, George West ISD, North East ISD and Schertz Cibolo Universal City ISD (SCUCISD).  While in George West, her band was awarded the UIL Sweepstakes Award as well as being selected as a State Finalists in the Outstanding Performance Series (OPS) and State Finalist in the Texas Music Educator Association (TMEA) Honor Band Contest.  While in SCUCISD, her Dobie JH and Clemens HS bands were Sweepstakes recipients.  

In Fredericksburg, Mrs. Rauschuber is the Head Middle School Director and teaches beginning flute and saxophone.

Mrs. Rauschuber is the principal flautist in the Kerrville Symphony of the Hills and also enjoys teaching lessons and playing in the Cailloux Theatre summer musicals.
